3 Months of Unemployment
After a mass layoff at my last job, I have been unemployed for the last 3 months. I want to reflect on my experiences of being unemployed.
I still have some gig economy apps to make things work. I have DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Instacart. Unfortunately, in my experience, Instacart has been pretty dead lately, and DoorDash put my account under a security review almost 3 months ago citing that I had changed my name and that it would be done within 24 hours. Well I have contacted customer support twice, to no avail.
I have been applying for everything possible. I’ve had some interviews, but nothing has come up yet. I came close with one job, but unfortunately the budget constraints prevented them from finishing taking me on. I have recently started to work with Vocational Rehabilitation and WorkSource Oregon to try to get some help with jobs going forward.
Finally I have been learning a lot about being under pressure when unemployed. Wife and I have both been working as much as possible, albeit it’s mostly her doing the work, I’m just kinda coasting and earning whatever I can…
Hopefully I will find a breakthrough soon and get a new job. Maria did help me tune my Resume a bit this morning. Hopefully with the updates it will look better and attract more work.
